Quality Time during COVID-19

I think we can all agree that this year has had its difficulties, in more ways than one.

Back in March when the pandemic was unknowingly looming over us, I was excitingly anticipating the months to come. I was determined to make 2020 MY year and had a line-up of events, adventures, and new ventures on my agenda that I could not wait for!

As March progressed and the pandemic seemed all too real, I abandoned the prospect of travel and adventure to start thinking of how I was going to keep my family, and myself, healthy and safe from an unknown virus.

The beginning of the pandemic was hard and difficult to navigate - not going to lie. Being quarantined was emotionally and physically draining for all of us, especially being so acclimated to hectic and bustling schedules. John had to now work from home (as did I), and the kids had to begin their schooling through Zoom meetings and online courses. It was a drastic change that everyone around the world was feeling, and although I can always find the silver lining, the unknown was very unsettling to us all.

It did get better though, and a sense of relief came quicker than I had imagined.

In the middle of April when the virus was almost at its peak, I started to come to terms with living and working from home. I started a new routine that allowed me to still have my alone time while also enjoying moments with my family. I began walking even more around my neighborhood than I already did and committed to reeling in the small moments more often. Family dinners became more frequent and it was nice to sit down and talk with my husband and kids about their day, even if it was mostly spent inside!

The pandemic, while still very serious, has brought my family together in ways that I am forever grateful for. The heightened quality time that we have had has made me so happy, and it fills me with joy to see families with similar experiences across the country!

It’s now July and even though we are still in quarantine, I couldn’t be happier with where I’m at with my family and myself. 2020 is still going to be my year, whether I am out and about traveling the world or at home with family.
